A Local Favourite in the Suburbs of Brisbane

The Cannon Hill Tavern has been a local favourite for many years. Conveniently located near public transport and with plenty of parking, lots of food and cold beers on tap, Cannon Hill Tavern is a great relaxation and dining option.

Once named 1117, in reference to its street address, and later ‘The Italian’ with a focus on Italian dishes, the hotel reverted to its original name in 2024.

Cannon Hill is an easy 25-minute drive from the Brisbane CBD. The suburb is most likely named after Cannon Hill House, a residence formerly located on Wynnum Road and occupied by the Weedon family from its construction in 1867 until burning down in 1926. Thornhill Weedon named the house after two fallen trees which were said to have resembled a cannon.

Today, Cannon Hill is comfortable and casual, with great food at your fingertips, and a menu for the kids to enjoy.

The tavern’s renovation featured the addition of green walls to the outdoor dining area, installation of new lighting and updates to both internal and external walls.

Known for hosting various events and specials, such as trivia nights, schnitzel promotions, and live entertainment on Fridays, it’s a prime venue for locals and visitors alike.

So grab a chair, order a beer and tuck into some great pub fare!

Come in soon and say hello.
